Returning Great Western loco's and trains to the storage sidings opposite Brinklow posed a problem, that was they were unable to pass through Leamington Avenue as they would be out of gauge (Avenue being on the LMS)
So it was decided at the outset to incorporate a return loop below the main layout that would enable loco's to return without causing any disruption or compromise running days. It is intended in the coming months to make this loop "bi-directional" by adding another parallel line. Currently it also provides valuable additional storage.
Branching off at the Southern storage sidings
